Hey guys.
I wanted to talk about something that happened today during class. I warn you that this might not sound very pretty.
A guy in my class turned 17 today. As usual I wished him Happy Birthday and he thanked me. Everything was completely normal until after we got back from lunchtime.
He passed by my seat to get to his, and I smelled this revolting smell of alcohol. The ignorance and disgust starts here. Although he smelled like he was drunk, he didn't appear to be. He'd just turn to other guys in my class and chuckle, from the state he was in I suppose. I saw a bottle of orange juice standing near the girl who was seated next to him - who also smelled horribly - and I could only think that that juice wasn't 100% natural if you know what I mean. And it wasn't, I was later informed.
He asked my teacher to leave because he felt sick, and so he left for... say ten minutes and then came back. Nothing major, nothing out of the ordinary. Twenty minutes passed by and I saw him standing a few feet away from me. What I didn't notice was that he had puked all over his table - poor girl - and onto his notebook. He was now in that spot, with the unappealing substance still dripping from his mouth and on his hands.
The moment he stepped outside the door, three noises were heard: the sound of him puking again, the sound of it falling on the floor and the sound that everyone in class made when we heard it - "arrrgghhhhhh". He then went home.
The purpose of this story is... who would want to remember their 17th birthday this way? Or rather, any birthday? Who is . . . disgusting enough and has nothing better to do than to get drunk at 12 PM and puke during class? You can go out, have fun. Drink, sure. But why make these wretched acts? Why go through that unnecessary humiliation?
I know we're teenagers, but we can be responsible teenagers. We can be respected teenagers. It just infuriates me how the only way some people can celebrate is by drinking. What are your friends for? What is your family for? What is everything you care about for? I just feel so disappointed with some of the things I see and hear nowadays. People popping up in class with one too many? IN THE MORNING/AFTERNOON? Just . . . Uhhh.
I'm sorry I posted this, I really am. It's not appealing, it's not what I wanted to talk about on my BEDA blog. I've just been thinking about this all day long.
- Lo
P.S. - Excited to know who my BEDA buddy's gonna be :)
