BEDA #3 - Food

(Photo found here)

First of all, let me tell you this: I love food. I would eat all day if it meant I wouldn't be able to have my thighs triple in size. Plus, I love to cook and I'm pretty good if I do say so myself. Ironically enough, I cooked dinner today (my Mom grabbed the chance to not cook this evening - even though she's making desserts for Easter tomorrow - so I was handed the nice task). A nice tomato and basilic pasta with a few touches here and there, it was definitely nom noms.

My favorite kind of food is definitely Mediterranean because it has a mix of everything! Thus, some of my favorite foods are European:

Italian: Oh, dear. The pasta, the tomato, the pesto, the mozzarella, the oregano, the parmesan... everything is great in Italian cuisine, everything is so spot on. Whenever I start thinking about my future trip to Italy this Summer, I mostly think about food. Oh, the food, how I'm going to be fat after that trip. It'll be so worth it.

Indian: Perfect. Unfortunately, I don't handle spicy food very well. Rather, at all. But even so, I eat whatever Indian food I can, be it Tikka Masala, Naan or whatever happens to meet my taste buds (and, boy, do they love it). I wish I could go to Ash's house and have Mrs. Sinha cook me some nice Indian foodz since they have so much spices in their pantry. Yuuuuum.

Spanish: Pan con Tomate, Paella, Tortilla, you name it. It's one of those Mediterranean cuisines that are extremely wonderful. The jamón, the olive oil, the chorizo, the gazpacho... guay!

Mexican: A lot like the Spanish cuisine, but much more spicy. Again, I can't handle a lot of spice, but the burritos, the tacos, the guacamole, the salsa, the nachos... perfect comfort food. And so DIY which is so much fun!

Portuguese: Well, I had to mention it. It's wonderful, you would lick your fingers, your plate, it's one of the best cuisines out there because, you guessed it, it's also part of the Mediterranean diet. The fish (especially sardines and codfish) and seafood, the meat, the caldo verde, the desserts (trust me, we beat desserts)... ah, I'm glad I live here, the food is superb.

I'm a very lucky girl because all the women in my family cook like goddesses, so every family gathering will most surely please your taste buds (and mine).

I also really hate people who are picky with food, I can't stand it. And people who say they don't like something even when they've never tried it before. Whenever I'm in someone else's home and I see that I don't like the food they're cooking, I don't say anything, I think it's such a lack of respect (and who knows, maybe I like the way that person cooks the ingredient I don't like). I just eat and look happy, because food is important, food establishes connections between people, kind of like music.

To finish off, I'm absolutely obsessed with cooking shows. Every Jamie Oliver show (I love that bloke), Top Chef and I miss Ready Steady Cook so much, I used to watch it for hours when I was younger. Every time I cook I pretend like I'm on Top Chef, it's awesome, you should try it.

Until tomorrow!

Bisou, bisou *

  1. I love Jamie Oliver! And Top Chef! I like to pretend I can cook as well as the people on Top Chef. I have learned a few things from watching, but mostly I just wish I could taste some of it.

And yeah, I'm basically not biased towards/against any food because it's all delicious.
You should film yourself cooking, btw. That would be something to see lol
